PEEK Natural
Overview
PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic designed for the most demanding mechanical, thermal and chemical environments. It offers a rare combination of high temperature resistance, mechanical strength and excellent chemical stability. PEEK maintains its structural integrity under extreme conditions, including continuous operating temperatures up to 250°C and is inherently flame retardant. It is ideal for high-load and high-speed applications, particularly where sterilization, aggressive chemicals or electrical insulation are key concerns. Its excellent biocompatibility and FDA compliance also make it suitable for medical and food-grade components.
Key Features
- Withstands continuous temperatures up to 250°C
- Excellent chemical and hydrolysis resistance
- High tensile, flexural and impact strength
- Exceptional dimensional stability under load
- Flame retardant with low smoke and toxic gas emission
- Good electrical insulating properties
- FDA and EU food contact compliant
- Radiation and sterilization resistant
- Low outgassing for vacuum applications
- Wear and fatigue resistant
Applications
- Semiconductor processing parts (wafer carriers, insulators)
- Aerospace structural and electrical components
- High-load bearings and bushings
- Automotive under-the-hood and drivetrain parts
- Medical implants, sterilizable instruments
- Pump and compressor parts
- Oil and gas industry seals and valve components
- Electrical insulators for high-temperature applications
Weaknesses
- Expensive compared to other engineering plastics
- Brittle under impact in unfilled form
- Difficult to machine without proper tooling
- Limited availability in very large dimensions
Modified Bearing Grade PEEK (MBG) - Black
Overview
Modified Bearing Grade (MBG) PEEK is an advanced composite material made by blending 70% virgin PEEK with 10% carbon fibre, 10% graphite, and 10% PTFE. This unique formulation delivers outstanding tribological performance, combining high strength, superior wear resistance, and extremely low friction. MBG PEEK is purpose-built for high-load, high-speed, and dry-running environments where conventional materials fail. Its reinforced structure enhances its pressure-velocity (PV) limits, making it ideal for demanding bearing and sliding applications.
Key Features
- 50% lower coefficient of friction vs. standard PEEK
- 20% improved wear resistance
- Excellent load-bearing capacity
- Low wear rate in dry-running conditions
- Very high PV (pressure-velocity) rating
- Chemically resistant to aggressive media
- Thermal stability up to 250°C continuous use
- Electrically insulating with anti-static properties
- Dimensionally stable under load
- Suitable for precision machined components
Applications
- High-performance bearings and bushings
- Sliding components under heavy load
- Dry-running seals and piston rings
- Valve seats and compressor parts
- Wear pads in aerospace and defense
- Semiconductor and chemical processing components
- Automotive under-hood parts
Weaknesses
- Higher cost due to advanced filler blend
